AFFORDABLE COUNSELLING & HYPNOTHERAPY IN CAMBRIDGE

Trauma-informed counselling and hypnotherapy for anxiety, depression, low self - worth, abuse and other issues in Cambridge. Sessions are available in person, online, or through walk and talk therapy. My approach is warm, friendly, and down to earth. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can be yourself without fear of judgement or pressure to have everything figured out.

What brings people to therapy

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, trauma, and the lasting effects of difficult childhood experiences. This may include growing up with emotionally immature, neglectful, critical, or abusive parents, experiencing parental divorce or family conflict, addiction within the family, emotional neglect, sexual abuse, or incest. I also work with people affected by grief, suicide loss, major life-changing events, accidents, and experiences that have left them feeling emotionally overwhelmed, unsafe, or disconnected from themselves and others.

Many clients come to therapy feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns, emotionally exhausted, overly responsible for others, or struggling with shame, perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, or difficulty trusting themselves and others. Together, we work to better understand how past experiences may still be affecting your present life, relationships, emotions, and sense of self.

Sometimes people cope for so long that they lose touch with what they truly need. Working through difficult things can feel emotionally heavy at times, but there is also room for lightness in therapy. As you begin to reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been forgotten, or start to let go of what has been weighing you down, there is often a shift in how you see yourself and your life. That shift can bring clarity, relief, and a sense of hope.

Being truly listened to

How often in your day-to-day life are you really listened to? Therapy offers a space where you can slow down and reflect in a way that is often difficult to find in a world where everyone is busy. It can help you make sense of your experiences and understand yourself more deeply. Together, we can begin to explore patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and relationships, helping you develop greater self-awareness, insight, and the ability to relate to yourself with more compassion and acceptance.

How I work

My approach is warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed, shaped not only by professional training but also by personal understanding of how deeply loss and life-changing experiences can affect emotional wellbeing. Depending on your needs, I may integrate counselling, hypnotherapy, psychoeducation, grounding techniques, and nervous system regulation to help you feel safer, more emotionally balanced, and better able to cope with difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Therapy may also involve improving boundaries and self-esteem, processing difficult experiences safely, and helping you feel more grounded, empowered, and connected to yourself.

People usually come to therapy when things feel stuck, overwhelming, or difficult to manage alone. My approach is calm, practical, and relational. We look at what is happening for you, how it is affecting your life, and what needs to change for things to feel more manageable. Sessions are not scripted. We work at your pace and focus on what feels most important for you at the time.

Ways we can work together

I offer different ways of working depending on what suits you.

You can choose from face-to-face sessions in Cambridge, online counselling across the UK, or walk and talk therapy in Cambridgeshire.

Some people prefer short-term focused work, others prefer longer-term therapy. You decide what feels right for you.

ABOUT

Hi, I'm Klara a trauma informed counsellor and hypnotherapist based in Cambridge.

I was born in the Czech Republic and have lived in the UK for over 20 years. Alongside my private practice, I volunteer with Choices, supporting adult survivors of child sexual abuse.

I'm warm, grounded and non-judgemental. I understand people often come to therapy doing the best they can in difficult circumstances. I meet you as a person not a problem to be fixed.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Reaching out for therapy can feel like an important and sometimes vulnerable step. It can be helpful to know what working together will actually look like before you begin.

I offer a free 15 minute introductory call. This is a relaxed conversation where you can briefly talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me. It also gives you a chance to decide whether you would like to go ahead with sessions.

If you choose to continue, we will arrange regular sessions at a pace that works for you. This may be short-term support focused on a specific issue, or longer-term therapy where we take more time to understand what is going on for you and how it is affecting your life.

In the first session, we will talk through what has been difficult, what you would like help with, and what you would like to change. We will also go through confidentiality, the client agreement, and the practical arrangements so everything is clear before we begin.

My aim is to offer a steady, supportive space where you feel listened to, taken seriously, and able to speak openly at your own pace.
